As always production and vocals are of the highest order Clapping

The production is really very good..... All aspects are done very well. This is a very nice composition.

In the end - I would like to hear you explore the vocal line a little more - ad lib dynamically and tonally. Intensify your delivery and embellish your melodic sense.

Not a fan of the synth string thing here, but aside from that, this is great!

I think your vocals sound better than ever here ... and they fit the slow, sexy groove. The synths in here are awesome, great modulation and I like the drums, except that the uber-ringy snare gets a little grating after a while.

Digging the wordless sections, slight breakdown and return to form. You've done a great job in creating a mystical feel here. I also like that the backing vocals are different in different parts.

Definitely a well-polished sound. I think that AgentMGD is on to something: the very ending did not do justice to the mood that was built up. As she mentions, maybe some powerful vocal acrobatics could be fun? My 2¢

You have a lot of clarity and power in your voice and it comes through the mix very well. That interlude that starts at about 2:00 is Cool ! I like the way the music changes at that point and what you do vocally during it.

Wow ! Diane you have outdone yourself ! This is incredible !
I like the strings a lot. You give Beth Gibbons a big run for her money.
This is the most trip-hop/lounge feel i have ever felt from an indie artist !
Great vocals because they are always great ! You keep amazing us
with more power and beauty each and every time we hear your beautiful
melodies and songs. The lyrics are great, those vocals phenomenal
and this music is by far the most professional i have ever heard for trip-hop/indie.

It looks like the "secret" is already out!!! And I am glad it is!

Great production, although the snare is perhaps a few db's louder then the vox (intentional?). It is just me but I would much rather enjoy your fantastic voice than the snare.

The vocal performance is very good, I like the overdubs which cast a dreamy melodic spell! Beautiful!

I'll echo Mux on the harsh sounding strings at the start there...
The drums sound excellent(snare is a bit O_o ) the overall production is good.

I love your vocs on this track - the harmonies are sooo sweet :-) (Smile)

I'm much more of an instrumental trip-hop fan than vocal trip-hop.

I likes the production of the background and the beat. The snare for example is very good and snappy, yet it has a nice little sustain. The synth strings from the start sounded a little rough, but the beat did too. The roughness which creates some kind of clarity, is the forte if this song. I like the beat very much.

Now as for vocals. I wasn't really excited about them in the start and frankly not now either. You did an excellent technical job and poured everything you got to the vocals, but in this case it didn't get to me that much. As I said, I like instrumental trip-hop more.

So I like the beat very much and would have enjoyed (much) more if I had heard a flute of some kind. Some kind of woodwind (may it be real or synthetic) is always a plus in trip-hop. Nodding The vocals as an individual achievement earn my respect in any case, but as vocal trip-hop, this is very so-so to me.

A for effort, A for the beat, A for the vocals, but B- for the overall.

This is good, but I also know what Lunitari means. There is for me kind of a contrast that challanges us and forces us to pick sides here: either we take the way you sing this, very professionally with that almost "angelic" pop sensibility (with some very good rougher edges too, this time) you put in there, and stick to that, but then the beat becomes a bit too hard, and eventually bit too repetitive in it's approach, and is in the end something I feel I then don't really want as a "contrast" to, for instance the mellow rhodes and your voice.
Or I can enjoy the beat and the quality it definately has in its own right, its very well produced sound not least, and actually embrace the contrast with (once again as an example) the rhodes, that exists. But then I end up with the same feeling about the vocals as Lunitari, not bad but not really "grabbing" me.
One could say it's an interesting "balance" that happens, and I think at some points during the parts where there are harmonies in your singing, and the chorus, it works as a balance, but at other points, for me, not so.
But I enjoyed this, I think the sounds of the synths "lift it" as a whole, they almost tell a story of their own. I like the way you wrote the rhodes' part too, they have a kind of cleverness about them I really like!

I just want to let you all know that this song was Recorded and Mixed in one day. Nodding

Adam found one of my ads, asked if I wanted to write a song with him, and I'm like "sure!" So having never met, I went up to LA and Bam! That was it!

Yeah, we could have changed, re-arranged, added or taken out many things, but it was just for fun, and I myself think it came out pretty darn good for a one day production. Nodding

I do appreciate and value all your comments though... you know I do! Love

I am actually in love with this line "In my heart I can't erase" the way that comes mixed in weaker and flat really sounds awesome. I must say that in one day to construct and put together a peice like this is phenominal. The quality forsure is top notches. Vocals sound really well. The backing vocals are really spectacular too, there is a break for mmmmms and ohhhs that comes in midway and its purifying. They also are very sweet behind the final chorus. Very nicely done.

Vox sounds killer D. The harmonizing is haunting. Totally awesome job for the time frame you had to work within. You got some mad skills to write, sing and compose and just basically throw down on the fly Bowing Down
Barring the quick mix and production (which wasn't bad at all) the feeling and performance is excelent.

Hey you’re good, you’re very good, you’re very, very good. I think I saw you as a rock chic when I first joined the site, perhaps because of “Maybe” and “You wanna fly, but since I’ve seen you sing so many styles. Recently it seems there has been a mini-reinvention of yourself as you dabble with more of a urban type of music.
This is wonderful for a days work and you worked really well with this guy.

There is an old movie called Dark City, and the best part of the movie was this perfect smoky jazz bar scene, where this beautiful woman sings the most seductive song. You could have been that woman, singing this song, and it would have fit just as well. I just wished the ending would have grabbed me as well as the rest of the song did. One day? Unbelieveable!

I disagree with the synth string, the sustained tone is very piercing, a little over the top.

I love the drums, they're a really creative sound, they are squeezed intot he mix with grease and fine carpentry.

GHEAH!!! Wow, this is amazing. The first thing that caught my attention was the bangin' percussion! I was very surprised to hear that it has a hip-hop tint to it. ;-) (Wink) Thumbs Up Every instrument is perfect: percussion, strings, synth, bass, etc... The melody is so grovy, and all of your layered/harmonized vocals blow me away! Wow! Those vocals and lyrics are sexy, sounds very forbidden, i like what's going on here.

Everything in this song is just super... obviously the only thing that would be better is a real tight band playing. But we can't ask you to do something like that! Not until you're famous.. ;) (Wink)

I guess I would ask first why you went outside of DM to do this……your voice is always fantastic….no exception here. That dry snare is about to knock my head off……grant it that I’m on crappy headphones in a hotel but you seemed adamant that I listen to this right now so here I am. Please remind me to come back when I’m at home. It’s a decent song near as I can tell….not my favorite though I must add. Diz could have done this right here at home. No offence to your outside connection! Time to STFU! Sorry! Hug

Even in genre's I don't particularly like in general, it is a pleasure to hear you warm, clear and skilled voice.Groovin
Good harmonies, good choice of instruments and a smooth production. I like the effect that makes the voice come straight from the Heart in the 4th line, it adds to the meaning of that line.
Teacher
What you could do more (in my opinion), is create secrecy in the sound of your voice, I mean, in my imagination, I can almost hear you use your voice to express the meaning/message of the song in more than just the words, like in reading or telling an electrifying Electroshock story to a kid, that opens it's eyes wide to let it all in.Wow!

You sound incredible Diane, this groove is great for that gorgeous voice of yours. I echo the earlier stated sentiments - that snare gives me a migraine and the artificial strings are less than pleasing. The vocal performance makes the rest of the track really pop. Don't get me wrong, this sounds pro, but the snare and strings are such prominent motifs in the piece it's hard not to notice the short comings.

Mmmm, I'm a sucker for great drum tracks! This thing just oozes atmosphere; the violins and layered choral "Heeere" give this one a kind of, heck, I dunno, a really HEAVY atmosphere, like I better listen up for all that's holy or something. That's a pretty doggone clever marketing tactic, by the way.

Anyway, your vocals are beautiful and flawless. I'll admit that they sound commonplace pop in many sections, which isn't bad except that I tend to associate pop with a major lack o' soul. Of course, that doesn't stop this from being an amazing piece of work, as my personal stigmas for pop sounds certainly don't stand a chance at marring this. Serious Congratulations are in Order. Clapping Clapping There you go.

Have you ever seen the episode of Saturday Night Live where Blue Oyster Cult is recording, and Eric Bloom (Will Ferrell) is going...um...a little heavy on the cowbell? Their producer (Christopher Walken) comes in repeatedly, demanding “More! More cowbell! I have a fever and the only cure is more cowbell!”
On first listen, from the point the percussive clank comes in to where the vocals start, that sound seemed a bit heavy. On SECOND listen, I got into it, heard how well it fit in the almost Ennio Morricone-ish melody.
The dulcet tones of Diane and the simple, immediately engaging lyrics are...as per usual...top notch all the way.

More proof of what a great artist you really are. You convey so well the message of the lyrics with the music. It's certainly full of mystery and what I like about it is it sets me off on a train of thought about 'what we're doing here' because it could be a couple having an affair, but it could also be more spiritual than that. You could make a relationship between a person and their god, then it becomes a question about existence. Sorry! I went off on one then! But that's the great thing about music (I speak as a listener not a maker) it can transport us. Fantastic Diane!

To be honest I'm not really fond of the instrumentation and beats that accompany you (a bit too loud too in my honest opinion) ... your voice really did it on this track (maybe it was intended to be like this) Anyway, I do keep in mind that this was a one-day recording, which is absolutely fabulous.
